Two officials of the Crimean Council of Ministers were caught using government computers to mine bitcoin. They reportedly installed malicious software on the government’s server and programmed more than a dozen computers to mine bitcoin for their personal gain. One of the men was the head of the government’s information technology department and the other was the head of hardware and technical support. They were both immediately fired before being able to cash out. The two were reportedly able to mine less than one bitcoin before being discovered.
