This Cryptocurrency Miner Says It Solved Bitcoin's Power Problem

via Bloomberg

Austria’s HydroMiner GmbH raised $2.8 million in an ICO on Wednesday. The startup hopes to solve bitcoin’s surging electricity consumption without boosting pollution by installing high-powered computers at hydropower plants. The company said by doing this is can mine digital currencies at cheaper costs. HydroMiner uses shipping containers with servers and software that can be placed at power stations in Austria. Instead of air conditioning, they circulate cold Alpine currents through piping to keep their equipment cool.
