Best Place to Buy Neo

Hi everyone, new to the group here - very excited to be part of the growing community.
Question for me: what is the best place to purchase NEO? I’ve heard of people mention Bittrex, but wasn’t sure if there were other venues people liked better.

Can only speak for myself, but I’ve been moving USD -> Coinbase, then using their free transfer to GDAX to purchase my BTC w/ no fee. Finally I transfer my BTC to www.binance.com to purchase my NEO since they offer NEO purchases w/ no fees.
 
@Kroneil - thanks for the no fee tip! I follow a very similar process to yours for purchasing BTC (via GDAX). I’ll look into binance to pick up some NEO.
 
Also, if I use Coinbase / Gdax to purchase BTC, ETH, LC, etc. Do I need a ledger to keep my digital currency safe, or is my digital currency safe on Coinbase?
Sorry… like I said, I’m new and trying to learn as much as I can but it’s like drinking from a firehose of information!
 
I’ve been leaving mine on exchanges for easier access but I think technically it’s not as safe as moving it to a local wallet. Peter has used Exodus on his streams which I grabbed and seems pretty good: https://www.exodus.io
Will probably move some things around when I’m ready to sit tight for the long haul… if you decide to pick up some NEO though Exodus doesn’t support it yet (and you couldn’t collect your Gas storing it there) so I’ve heard a few suggestions for Neon https://github.com/CityOfZion/neon-wallet/releases
 
I buy my NEO on bittrex and I have not moved it to a cold wallet for collecting GAS as I have very little NEO
