in my area (nigeria) "the shops" are not dead at all o. they survive because they add the viewing centre, you pay small to watch the match, buy drink, and you bet there same time. the ones that just sell ticket are dying yes but the ones that become like small bar with football, those are still full on weekend

this is the key really. is not that the physical betting is dead, is that ONLY a counter is dead. the ones that become a place to BE, with the football and the drinks, they survive. spain is the same, the bar-bookies they live, the empty white room ones they close

btw I was back in today. still dead.. Found out the girls worked there 9 years and the branch is shutting end of the month, not been offered owt else neither. So thets that. Suppose ill end up on the apps like the rest of you, moaning the whole time. Not chuffed about it but there's nowt to be done is there.

So I popped into my local on the way home from site. Same shop ive been using for what, 14 years now. used to be you couldn't get near the counter on a saturday, blokes three deep arguing about the 3:15 at Kempton, telly going, that smell of biros and disappointment lol.

today? Me, one fella asleep in the corner and the girl behind the counter scrolling her phone. She actually looked surprised someone walked in. Told me they barely cover the rent now and head office is "reviewing the branch".

I still do my coupon by hand. I don't want an app telling me what to bet and I sure as hell ain' t putting my money in magic internet coins. but im starting to feel like a dinosaur. anyone elses local actually still alive or is it just mine going under?

Same everywhere bro, nobody wants to leave the house when you can bet from the phone. Convenience is king honestly. The shops that don't go online will all close eventually,its just how it is now.
