five weeks. 104 games. ive had a bet on nearly every single day of it and i've just sat down and done the actual numbers and im down about £640 on the tournament.
and the final was the perfect ending wasn't it. had argentine outright from before a ball was kicked, plus messi to have a hand in a goal because obviously i did. they had two shots in 120 minutes. TWO. neither of them on target. sat there watching spain knock it about like a training drill knowing every quid was gone a good hour before it actually was.
so i strt to wonder as my timeline is nothing but winning slips and every single person i know has been skinned. did anyone here actually finish the world cup UP? not one lucky punt. up over the whole thing.

ill save everyone some time. no. nobody finished up. five weeks of daily bets isn't gambling, its a subscription. the margin gets you in the end whether the results go your way or not, that's the entire design of it. and the lads posting winners are posting the one slip that landed out of forty. you don't see the other thirty nine

amigos i am not sleeping properly since sunday. is the second time in my life and the first one i was too young to enjoy it properly.

and here is the funny part, i dont put one euro on spain. never i bet my own country, is bad luck, my father say this to me and i keep it always. so five weeks i am watching and thinking, if only i put one hundred euro before the start... but no. is ok. i take the trophy instead of the money

your timeline is all winners because nobody screenshots the losing slip. that's not a conspiracy its just what people choose to post. i had a fiver on spain in the group stage and cashed it out for eight quid because i got bored waiting. thats my entire tournament

American perspective and it's a bleak one. All three host nations went out in the round of 16 - us to Belgium, Mexico to England, Canada to Morocco. So the entire domestic audience here lost interest in the outcome about two weeks before the outcome happened.

What I'd flag is where the action actually went. A lot of people I know weren't on a sportsbook at all this tournament, they were on the event contract platforms, because the framing over here is still that those are financial products rather than gambling. Same bet, different regulator, different lawyer. And no, that didn't make anyone money either.

put £5 on spain to win the final because their kit is nicer and got about £8 back. so technically i finished the world cup up?? 😅 im aware this isnt the same thing as what you lot are doing

First tournament since about 1990 i haven't put a single slip on over a counter. Shop shut on the 30th like they said it would, so it was that or nowt.
So i've been doing it on the phone like the rest of you. And ill tell you what i noticed, since everyone's counting. I had eleven bets on this world cup. Eleven. In a shop id have had four, because four is how many times i could be bothered walking down there and back. That's not me being sentimental about the place, that's just the number.
Down about ninety quid. But reading all your comments makes me sorta winner apparently..

chapman on an app. genuinely thought id be dead before i saw that 😂 welcome to 2026 grandad, the waters warm

we went out on pens to egypt so my tournament finished on the 3rd of july mate. did the lot in the group stage like a mug and then watched three weeks of it for free, which is honestly the healthiest i've been in years

and congrats Ricardo, they were a proper side well deserved

yeah nah egypt still stings. your not wrong about the watching for free bit tho

the one that properly did me wasn't even the final. it was england v france in the third place game. a fixture nobody on earth wanted to play in, both squads mentally on a beach somewhere, so obviously i had unders. you always have unders in a dead rubber
six four. SIX FOUR. in a third place playoff. fifteen years of doing this and ive never seen anything like it in my life

can i ask something daft while everyones here. i got given one of those free bet things for the final and i used it and it actually won, but the money is sat in my account and it says i cant withdraw it yet, theres a number next to it counting down. have i done something wrong or is that just how they work?

You have not done anything wrong Angela. That is a wagering requirement and it is how nearly all of those offers are built.
The short version is that the free bet did not give you cash, it gave you bonus funds. Before those funds can become withdrawable you have to stake them a set number of times over, and the number counting down is what is left of that. Many places also cap how much of a bonus win you can ever convert into real money,so a good win on a free bet can shrink a great deal on the way out.

Two things worth doing and they take five minutes. Find the wagering multiple in the promotion terms, and find the maximum conversion. If the multiple is high and the cap is low then the honest answer is that the offer was never worth much to start with. It is not a scam. It is a marketing cost they have arranged very carefully not to pay.

ah right. so its not a free bet, its a free bet with homework 😵 cheers harry, ill go and read thet trap once in a while

here's the other half of the tournament that nobody posts about. i had a decent five weeks on the sportsbook side, nothing mad, up somewhere around 1200 across the whole thing. wednesday morning my max stake on football was £4.86.
thats not a glitch and its not a coincidence, that's the account being limited. you win over a sustained run on a soft book and they don't ban you, they just quietly make you irrelevant. so when acca asks did anyone finish up, the answer is some people did, and the prize for it is never having a proper bet on that book again

finished up 22k across the exchange and two books. tournaments are the easiest money of the year if you actually do the work instead of building accas out of feelings
