so pennsylvania has legal online casinos now (fanduel, draftkings, betmgm etc) but everyone i know still uses offshore sites
the legal ones are supposed to be "safe" but they have way higher taxes which means worse rtps, plus limited game selection cause not all providers have PA licenses
as aresult sites like bovada or ignition have better games, better bonuses, and actually pay out faster from what i've seen
is there any actual reason to use PA licensed sites besides "its legal"? cause legally dont really give a shit if the experience is worse

yea tax thing is real dude. PA has insane tax rates on operators which definitely affects what they can offer players. think its like 34% on slots which is insane. offshore sites don't pay those taxes so can have better rtps and bigger bonuses
personally i use both depending on mood. borgata (mgm) for peace of mind, bovada when i want better value

whaa you mean legal PA sites actually have lower rtps?? thought that was just conspiracy theory shit are you saying like starburst pays less on fanduel than on offshore site?

Not necessarily lower RTP on same game, but operators may negotiate lower RTP versions with providers to offset tax burden.
For example, some slots have multiple RTP settings (94%, 96%, 98%). Legal PA casino might choose 94% version while offshore runs 96% version. Both are "legitimate" settings from provider. Pennsylvania's 34% tax on gaming revenue is among highest in US. This forces operators to optimize costs, and RTP is one lever they can adjust.

yeah yeah legal sites are trash anyway
used draftkings for few months and games felt dead, bonuses were joke, withdrawal took 3 days even though they claim those "fast payouts"
switched to bovada and its night and day. hit 5k on gates of olympus, had it in bitcoin in under an hour. that would take foreva on draftkings

until bovada asks for verification and you cant provide it
PA licensed sites are slower but they're actually legal and regulated by PGCB. if you have dispute you can file complaint with gaming commission. with bovada youre shit out of luck. also bovada operates in legal grey area. they're not explicitly illegal but they're not licensed in PA either. that risk is real

honestly don't see the problem with bovada
I 'vebeen using them for 2 years from PA, withdrawn probably 15k total. they asked for id verification once when i hit 3k withdrawal, sent them pic of license, approved in 2 hours
people act like offshore sites are run by criminals. bovada has been around forever and processes millions in bets daily

the "legal grey area" thing is overblown
bovada doesn't have PA license but they're not illegal. PA law says operators need license, doesn''t say players cant use offshore sites
worst case bovada gets blocked (which hasn't happened). players are not gonna get prosecuted for using offshore casino lmao

actually cryptowine is right
PA law targets operators not players. no one in pennsylvania has ever been charged for using offshore casino. "its illegal" argument is technically true for the operator but not really relevant for player that said, if offshore site refuses to pay you out there's no recourse and that's the one real risk you have

so seems like consensus is that legal PA sites - safe, regulated, but worse value cause of taxes while offshore sites - better value, faster, but riskier if problems
so is there like a middleground or you just gtta pick one?

no middleground really. some people split bankroll - keep most on legal sites for safety, use offshore for better value on smaller amounts
i do like 70% betmgm / 30% ignition. betmgm for peace of mind, ignition when i want actual good bonuses

@Roccatus what bonuses does ignition have? been hearing about it but never tried
bovada bonuses are ok but nothing special. mostly just match deposits - like ignition has something better to offer than

ignition does 100-200% match bonuses pretty regular
also their poker room is solid if you play poker. betmgm poker is dead in PA cause player pool is only PA residents. ignition has global pool so actual traffic

wait wait wait you say poker on PA sites is only vs other PA players? that sounds awful. pennsylvania only has like 13 million people, probably tiny fraction play online poker. hell must be dead af

be sure it is lol
this is one of biggest problems with state-by-state licensing. each state is separate player pool so if you play on borgata in PA you only play vs other PA players. same game on borgata in NJ? only NJ players...
grey sites have global pools so way more traffic and bigger tournaments for sure

actually this is making me reconsidr the legal sites as i thought the whole point was they're "better" but sounds like they're just more restrictive
smaller player pools, worse rtps, higher taxes, slower payouts... whats the benefit besides some regulatory protection most people never need?

The benefit is legitimate legal framework. When legal site wrongs you, you have recourse through PGCB. Can file complaint, they investigate, often force casino to pay if you're right. When offshore site wrongs you, you post angry forum thread and move on. No mechanism for justice.
Most people never need this protection, true. But when you do need it, its invaluable. Insurance mindset.

in 2+ years using bovada the only "wrong" that's happened is occasional site maintenance
meanwhile my buddy got his draftkings account "suspended for review" for 2 weeks after winning 8k. legal site btw. they eventually paid but held his money. never happen on offshore so they obviously ain't perfect but legal sites aint perfect either

difference is your buddy GOT piad eventually while offshore sites can just say "terms violation" and keep your money. no appeal, no regulator, nothing - happened to some buds here asked for withdrawal, account locked, funds seized. done

whats the rest of that story tho? guarantee they were doing something shady huh? bovada doesn't just steal mon for no reason. either multi accounting, bonus abuse, or some other violation right??
