pulled some usdt off a casino last night, decent little win, and i just clicked the default option to withdraw which was eth. got absolutely tonked on the gas fee, like 8 bucks to move a fairly small amount. felt criminal.
is that just how it is now or am i doing something dumb? what are you lot actually using to keep the fees down when you cash out. cant be normal paying that much just to move my own money

you're doing something dumb, no offence, but its the most common dumb thing so don't feel bad. ethereum (erc20) is the single most expensive way to move usdt, can be anywhere from a couple bucks to 30+ when the networks busy. never use it for small amounts.
the standard cheap rail is tron (trc20), about a dollar, supported basically everywhere. if the casino offers solana its even cheaper, like fractions of a cent, and faster. change that dropdown off ethereum and your problem mostly disappears

hell now im confused, isn't usdt just usdt?? whats a trc20 vs erc20, i genuinely thought i was just withdrawing dollars 😭 what does the network even change

no, and this is the thing everyone has to learn once. usdt is the same dollar token issued on lots of different blockchains. ethereum (erc20, addresses start with 0x), tron (trc20, addresses start with T), solana, bnb chain, and more. same value, completely separate networks, wildly different fees and speeds.
and heres the part that actually matters: if you withdraw trc20 usdt to an erc20 (0x) address, or any mismatched network, the money is gone. permanently. no support can get it back because its sitting on a chain at an address nobody controls. the network on both ends has to match, every single time

oh. OH. so i could just lose my money by picking the wrong thing in a dropdown?? thats horrifying lol

yes. it happens to people constantly. the casino lets you pick the network, your wallet has an address for a specific network, they have to be the same one. before you ever hit confirm, look at the receiving address. T at the start means tron, 0x means eth. if they don't match what you've selected, stop

To put the whole thing together in order of what matters:
Keep your playing balance in a stablecoin so the value does not swing while you play. Withdraw on TRC-20 or Solana to keep fees near zero. And the first time you ever send to a new address, send a tiny test amount first - a few dollars - confirm it arrives, then move the rest. It costs cents and it is the only reliable protection against the network mistake @Hexdek16 is describing. Test transfer first is a habit that will save someone in this thread a painful amount of money one day.

erc20 in 2026 is genuinely a boomer trap 😂 tron or solana, done, move on. and honestly i reckon the casinos that still default you to ethereum do it on purpose, betting you wont change the dropdown and theyll quietly pocket the difference. always check it

yeah that was exactly it, the casino defaulted me to eth and i just clicked straight through like a muppet. just switched it to tron and did a tiny test send like harry said, fee came out under a dollar instead of 8. wish someone had told me this about 50 cashouts ago lol

Let me make sure I've understood. To remove YOUR OWN winnings, you need to know what a "trc20" is,select the correct blockchain from a dropdown menu, and if you pick the wrong one your money vanishes into the void forever with no recourse. In a shop the lass counted my winnings into my hand in tenners. Took ten seconds. Couldn't lose them to a typo if Id tried. And you lot call this the future. Mental.

broken clock and all that but chapmans not wrong on this one. the sheer number of ways to lose your money to a typo before you've even gambled it is mad. there's a real learning curve and the price of failing the test is your entire balance, not a slap on the wrist

lost 200 quid to a wrong network send last year and i wasn't even gambling, just moving funds. picked bep20 instead of trc20 to a wallet that only took tron. just gone. the casino took less of my money that month than my own fat fingers did. the dropdown is undefeated

is true what harry say about the test transaction. always i send first a small one, like 5 dollar, to check the address is correct, then i send the rest. it cost me almost nothing and one time it save me because i had selected the wrong network. the people who send everything the first time with no test, those are the people who come here to cry after

grabe yes trc20 talaga is the way. dito sa amin everyone uses tron usdt, mga 1 dollar lang. erc20 sobrang mahal so fffin expensive, sayang ang pera. just always check the address muna before you send ha, kasi pag mali yung network, wala na, gone, no take backs

just use bitcoin
no, btc is one of the WORSE choices for small casino cashouts and people need to stop repeating this. on-chain btc fees aren't free and it can take 30 to 60 minutes to confirm. on a 50 dollar withdrawal the fee is a real chunk and you're sat waiting ages for it. lightning would fix the speed and cost but almost no casino supports lightning withdrawals yet. for small amounts, stablecoin on tron or solana beats btc on every metric. btc only makes sense when ur movin some big amounts that the flat fee becomes trivial

yes is always the network the problem because the people they think the coin is the coin but the coin is on many different chain and each chain have the different fee and different speed and the casino sometimes give you only some options and the default is the expensive one so you must change it yourself every time and check the address is matching because if not the money is gone and you cannot do nothing no support can help because is on the blockchain and the blockchain don't care who you are it only follow the code so really you must learn this by yourself or read before but most people they don't read they just click the button and then after is too late and the money is somewhere nobody can reach

@Genesis with the single-breath special again but "most people don't read they just click and then is too late" is genuinely the entire thread in one sentence so fair play
