world cup damage report - did anyone actually finish this thing up?

Canada actually gave me a decent run, i had them to get out of the group which everyone told me was a waste of money, then morocco ended it in the 16s. finished roughly level over the tournament which after reading this thread feels like a trophy.
did all my cashouts on tron this time instead of eating the eth fee like a muppet, so at least something from june stuck

here in brazil this world cup everybody was betting and i don't mean the people who bet normally i mean everybody the neighbour the taxi driver the family group on the whatsapp all of them with the app open and the advertising is everywhere on the television between every single match so now is finished you have all these people who never bet before in their life and they lose and they don't understand how and some of them they was using money they don't have and the government is happy because now is regulated and they collect the tax and the banks they see all this money moving and they start to ask where is it from and honestly i think in one month or two months we see the real damage because right now everybody is still very quiet about it

wow marios put his finger on the actual answer to this thread without meaning to.
question isn't who finished up out of us lot. we're the furniture, we're already here. a tournament is when everybody else joins in for five weeks. that's where the money comes from and thats why there's an advert every eleven minutes for a month

bookies definately lost alot on this one though, everyone i know had spain and they was odds on by the end of it. that's why there always going on about what a bad tournament it was for them

Everybody remembers backing Spain now that Spain have won. Ask those same people what they actually wrote down in June and you'll get a very different list of names.

And an operator putting out a story about how badly a tournament went for them is a marketing exercise, not an audited disclosure. It's an advert that says look how generous we are, come and have another go. Read it the same way you'd read any other ad.

most of these games were 2am and 3am here. so my tournament was five weeks of watching football alone in the dark with a phone in my hand, which is exactly the state you should never be placing a bet in. i kept the stakes tiny for that reason and i still finished down. the time zone did more damage to me than the odds did

nobody wants to hear this one but ill say it anyway. i deposited three times during the final. THREE. once at kick off, once at half time when it was still nil nil and i fancied it, and once in extra time after torres scored because i needed it back
that third one was about four minutes after the goal. FOUR MINUTES. thats not a bet thats a reflex. and all three of them took roughly eleven seconds each
anyway. no more football for a bit. probably for the best

bit right after a tournament is the part i keep an eye on with myself these days. five weeks of something on every single night and then suddenly there's nothing on, and that hole is exactly where i used to go and find something else to bet on instead. usually something i knew absolutely nothing about
not telling anyone what to do. just if you've had something on every night for five weeks and it all stops tomorrow, that's worth knowing about yourself.

seems like the answer to my question is no, apart from a lad who had a fiver on spain because of the kit and a bloke who wont post statements. brilliant. glad i asked. leagues back next month anyway

nobody really finishes a tournament up honestly, the margin is against you on every single bet you place so across five weeks its just maths in the end. the winners you see online are the exception and not the rule, that's simply how it works
