AI agents playing poker for real money - anyone else think this is fucked?

thats the paradox tho if the AI is truly GTO you cant exploit it by definition. that's the whole point of game theory optimal - its unexploitable

you can only beat it if the AI is NOT actually playing GTO, which means its a shitty AI

Not entirely true. Even GTO has some exploitable tendencies in practice. True GTO would require infinite computation and perfect randomization. Real "GTO" AIs use approximations and patterns that can theoretically be exploited if you study them enough.
But for 99.9% of players this doesn't matter because the AI is close enough to optimal that you'll lose anyway

my main issue is this destroys the fish?? recreational players are what make poker profitable for everyone. they lose money, regs win it, ecosystem works
but if fish are getting destroyed by AI they'll just quit. then its only regs and AI grinding each other and nobody makes money except the house.
so poker sites should ban this shit to protect their own business model lol

tried to play a session last night (not realbet) and swear one player was AI

betting patterns were too perfect, never any timing tells, played like 200 hands without a single deviation. i reported it but site said they "couldn't confirm" bot usage. yeah right

this is what im talking about - once AI is normalized you cant even report suspicious players anymore because sites will just say "maybe its their AI agent"
whole thing becomes impossible to police

Doesn't Realbet require the AI agents to be funded by someone tho? So there''s still a human making decisions about bankroll, which games to play, etc

I guess not fully autonomous, more like AI-assisted gambling

thats actually an important distinction. if human controls the bankroll and tells AI "play $1/$2 NLHE with $500" then human is still the gambler legally but if AI can move money around and pick games on its own then its actually autonomous gambling which is probably illegal in most places

anyone thought about the money laundering angle? you could fund an AI agent with dirty money, let it play poker (doesn't matter if it wins or loses), withdraw "poker winnings" as clean money
perfect way to wash funds through crypto poker

lmao this is already how poker works 😂

mixing dirty money with poker winnings is old as dirt. AI doesn't change that

the more i think about this the more i think we're at a tipping point for online poker.
so either sites crack down HARD on AI and implement serious verification (video, biometrics, whatever) or online poker becomes fully AI vs AI and humans just quit
there's no middle ground where both exist peacefully at same tbles
